The week in the alps at The Greatest Show on Snow is a bit of a whirlwind to say the least… What with the skiing, boarding, pisted based pandemonium, street parties and enough Jäger to take down a wolly Mammoth, you wouldn’t be blamed for some of the incredible music across the week being, ahem, a bit of a blur. Which tune made you twerk like Rihanna in the Racket Club, which club banger made you bruck out in the Bruk ‘N Stadl?
1. Craig David ft. Big Narstie – When the Bassline Drops
Enough has been said about big Craig’s incredible hits packed, justin Bieber flecked, euphoric Racket Club debut on the Thursday night but this banger was a highlight of the set, and also got dropped from piste to party across Snowbombing week. A sure fire ladies favourite, this got played out enough to keep the original Boh Selectah in PRS funds for the next thousand years. Thanks again Craig!
2. Eats Everything – Big Discs
Hands (or should that be Hans) in ze air! This disco flecked Housey stompathon from everyone’s favourite rotund selector Eats Everything was heard across some of the very finest sets of the week. From Groove Armada at the Street Party to Jackmaster in the Racket, via Anja Schneider in the Bruk N Stadl, this summery slammer saw more plays then Hans hands out hot pork rolls. Infectious, silly and ridiculously fn… It’s basically the perfect Snowbombing song!
3. Skepta – Man
A snarlingly ferocious grime number from everyone’s favourite MC Skepta here, who gave us ‘Man’s first public airing inside our very own Racket Club. “The reaction to the tune made me so hyped for my tour” the big man from Tottenham declared after the show… Get acquainted again here!
4. Oliver Heldens – Gecko
Not a new one by any means, but Oliver Heldens’ sales chart bothering anthem saw a LOT of action over Snowbombing week. Whether it was the man himself blasting it out on our Sunday opening extravaganza or the multiple parties on balconies blasting out the rhythm day and night (oops), it was clear that the Dutch wunderkind definitely brought a sizeable crew with him to the mountains…
5. The Prodigy – Outta Space
Is it an obvious pick? Has it been played to death? Is it actually still f**king fantastic? Did it cause an absolute riot at The Forest Party on the final night of SB16? All the answers to those questions is a big fat YES. Once again, the unofficial anthem of The Greatest Show on Snow and the best possible way to sign off on a wonderful week in the mountains… BOSH.
